Ashleigh was born in Tennessee, USA. Always singing through her childhood years inspired by artists such as Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Celine Dion, Shania Twain & her all time favourites Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton to name just a few. Her list of achievements to date include a teen host & performer on a Nashville Spotlight TV Show, featured performances at Music By The Lake, The Factory, Bear Hollow Dinner Theater and guest performer at Blue Bird Café. She has also been featured on multiple television & radio interviews, in multiple newspapers and magazines, on multiple internet sites and recently recorded her first single “CRY” which is currently receiving local radio airplay, international radio airplay & internet radio airplay & she's more recently performed at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, CA. Ashleigh is also a CEO Space Teen Graduate Certified Entrepreneur & an active Member & Performer at the Kid Nashville Club.

A Franklin County teenager with ties to Obion County will compete with 24 other young rising country music stars Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Nashville Hall of Fame Lounge. Ashleigh Cole, 17, daughter of Donnie and Kim Cole of Estill Springs, will compete for the right to have a song played in three months of rotations at CATZ Satellite Radio, which is sponsoring the contest. Her father is formerly of Obion and her mother is formerly of Union City. Miss Cole is the sister of Donna Lee Northam of Union City and Shane Cole of Rives. She is the granddaughter of Cordella Cole and the late Carnel Cole of Obion; Sandra Mayo Newsom of Jackson, formerly of Union City; and the late Don Robinson of Tiptonville. She also has several aunts, uncles and cousins who live in the county. She has been singing since age 3 and on Saturday recorded her first song, “Cry.” It is an original song and the one she plans to sing Tuesday night. She will also be flying to Los Angeles in December, where she plans to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” live for more than 20,000 people during the CEO Space convention. At an early age she trained at the Kasper School of Music in Nashville. She was in the choir in junior high and continued in high school. She is a member of the contemporary gospel group Won by One. Miss Cole was recently contacted through StarSearchCasting.com for an interview/audition for the talent show, “Best New Talent.” A producer called and informed her mother that the young singer was beyond competition stage and a producer wanted to meet her and hear her sing. Miss Cole and her mother, who serves as her manager, flew to Los Angeles, where she met with Christina Aguilera’s producer Ron Harris at his home. “He talked to us for a bit, trying to help ease her nerves. He made fun of our southern slang a little but said he could sit there all night just to hear us talk,” said Mrs. Cole, adding that once the producer heard her daughter sing he wanted to sign a contract right then. Mrs. Cole said she had to remind them the young singer was still in school. “He wanted Ashleigh to work with him on co-writing, then sing/record her songs. We were looking at over a month in L.A. It just wasn’t feasible at the time, so we had to decline for the time being,” explained Mrs. Cole. The duo has since returned to L.A. for an entrepreneur program in order to learn the ropes. While Miss Cole was there with more than 1,200 people, she had the chance to perform. She had no idea Celine Dion’s producer Jeff Bova was in the audience scouting for new talent. He is now Miss Cole’s new producer and a member of her advisory board. Everyone who can is urged to attend the contest and support the young singer as the judges look at audience reaction as a factor in their final decision. The judges will be from Show Dog Records — Toby Keith’s label. Tracey has his own band and performs nearly five to seven nights a week, in addition to producing. Albro is the sound engineer for Clint Black and recently came off tour for the holidays. “We were very lucky to get them to work with Ashleigh again,” her mother said, adding Haines was able to go with them to the studio. “We all are very excited about how the song came out and the twist that Ashleigh gave the song on the end.” Haines has two additional songs he has pitched to Miss Cole and is working on one other that was to be finished this week. “They will be getting together during the holidays to practice ‘Cry’ together and the two new songs,” Mrs. Cole said. Miss Cole has been invited to sing at the Bluebird Cafe on Jan. 2 and Haines will accompany her on guitar. A scheduled trip to Los Angeles had to be canceled due to Mrs. Cole’s health, but BJ Dohrman, CEO and founder of CEO Space, informed Miss Cole she would be invited to sing at the next forum and many to follow afterward. Mrs. Cole said Dohrman has been very supportive of the singer, forwarding her song to his personal friend, Michael Peterson, a country music star who has won many awards. He has sent her several e-mails praising her accomplishments and has been very generous with his support and belief in her, the singer’s mother added. Future CEO Stars January 2008 27 In following my dream, I have gone from singing with my Fischer-Price® tape recorder at the age of three to singing in a recording studio at age seventeen. In 2004, I signed up with StarSearch- Casting.com for a web page promoting my modeling, acting and singing. Casting agents and directors use this site to search for new talent. At our hotel in LA, my mom met some people who invited us to attend an entrepreneurship program that happened to be going on while we were there. We decided to give it a shot. We worked with coaches from a group called CEO Space. This experience generated a lot of useful ideas. One of these ideas was to go to Nashville and record a three song demo and have promotional head shot pictures made. With my demo and pictures I wrote a one page overview and put them all together to create a basic promotional package for the newly formed Ashleigh Cole Music. While at this entrepreneurship program I learned a lot about the art of networking and I met a group of individuals willing to donate their time to act as my business advisory board. One of my advisors introduced me to an entertainment attorney to help me keep everything legal. He also introduced me to several songwriters including a man called Eric Haines. Eric pitched me a song he wrote called “Cry” and I loved it. Soon after, we went to the studio to record it. With it I entered a contest in Nashville sponsored by CATZ radio for a three month spot on their play list and won! From there, I went on to myspace.com and signed up for a music site to feature this recording. Soon I will begin to raise seed capital to get my business going, which will probably be, as CEO Space taught me the safest way to go, an LLC. Investor capital will be used to set up my business and I am counting on my advisory board to help with my business plan and strategy to repay my investors. In the meantime, I continue with what I love the most, singing. I practice every day and work with a vocal coach once a week. I also continue to sing with my high school’s show choir, my church choir and with the contemporary gospel group “Won by One”. My mom is my manager and she is always scouting for good songs for me to sing and ways to expand my professional network. I think it’s cool that when she introduces me to people in the industry, she steps away and lets me do the talking (but I know she’s close by if I need her guidance). My advice to anyone who wants to be a music artist is to practice, practice, practice, learn how to start a business, and get networking! I tend to avoid anything that is like that. Girl" acts might just be some of the most talented and evocative acts in the industry. From Aretha Franklin to Janis Joplin, women have used music to assert their strength, independence and ability to express the zeitgeist. Take the psychedelic garage band The Wooly Bandits. The band features both a female lead singer and a female drummer, Christa Deeryn Collins and Rikki Styxx, respectively. But don't expect either musician to spout inane pop ditties. "Having a band is ridiculously real," says Collins. "As a band, you are sharing some of the most intimate things about yourself. You are creating. Female lead singers stand prepared to take center stage. The OC MusicFest, a three-day music festival that will draw 20,000 to 60,000 fans to Irvine, Calif., in May 2009, has seen a surge of female-lead entrants in its Be the Band Contest. More than 2,000 artists have entered to win a chance to play at the the festival, with female-fronted bands entering at twice the rate as male-lead bands. Female-fronted bands entering the contest include Genius, The Outliars, Silbia Han, Ashleigh Cole, LiTaL and Aeronautics. Genius, the only Platinum-selling band to emerge from Romania, recently moved to San Francisco. Oana Vincu, Genius' lead singer, is also the band's visionary.
