Cape Breton born singer/songwriter Carmel Mikol is poised to join the ranks of Canada’s great songwriters. With well-crafted songs and a laid-back performance style, Carmel has toured nationally, gaining fans and critical acclaim from coast to coast.
Her upcoming album “In My Bones” was produced by Fred Lavery at the award-winning Lakewind Sound Studio (Cape Breton) and Scott Ferguson at Ferguson Music Productions (Halifax). All songs were written by Carmel Mikol. Guided by folk/rock sensibility, the album features warm acoustics, catchy electric guitar and ethereal lap steel. The album is already garnering attention with "Sunny Days" winning a 2009 Independent Singer/Songwriter Award in the Folk Category (ISSA). "Sunny Days" is also featured on this year's Atlantic Film Festival Music & Image Compilation album.
Carmel is a showcasing artist at the 2009 Molson Canadian Music Nova Scotia Music Week Conference and the 2010 East Coast Music Awards.
This year, Carmel crossed Canada on the "Guess Who's Driving? Tour" with double-East Coast Music Award nominated singer/songwriter Kim Wempe, playing 50+ shows from coast to coast. "In My Bones" and "Sunny Days," both from the upcoming album, are currently spinning on radio stations across Canada, including feature interviews/performance on CBC's Mainstreet in Nova Scotia.
Earlier in 2009, Carmel released "Lost Lives EP" (available on iTunes) and received Honorable Mention for her song "Twenty Something Girl" in the 12th Annual Unisong Songwriting Contest.
Her new album "In My Bones" will be released March 30, 2010.
