Corey William - 'City Sand' by Josh Leider
I get many emails from small scale artists, and to be honest, most of their music isn't ready to be publicized yet. An independent artist named Corey William, on the other hand, really surprised me when he contacted me the other day. We talked a little bit, and I learned that this guy has never stopped improving his music skills. Growing up in Bedminster, NJ, Corey has been in many bands, but he recently has decided to go solo, producing his first solo album City Sand. His sound is very unique, with a mix of pop, piano and electric guitar that is surprisingly fresh. Currently, he is going into business to strengthen his chances in the brutal jungle of the music industry. I usually have a great ear for raw talent, and he is definitely on my radar now, so stop what you're doing and check out Corey William!

Album Review: Corey William ~ City Sand by Kristen Jones
Singer/songwriter/pianist Corey William recently released a new demo album, his first as a solo artist. City Sand is a five track EP available on iTunes. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this album. I have to admit I had never heard of the artist before and nothing really stood out upon first listen. But after repeated plays I found myself humming the melodies and singing along. Corey William previously played in a number of different bands, but recently decided to go solo. For City Sand he combines a mix of pop, alternative rock, piano and electric guitar. The end result is a unique blend of quality music with a laid back feel. Two songs I found myself going back to were “Story of My Life” and “(London) Stop, Drop & Roll” with its intriguing piano and drum intro. “Nautilus” on the other hand had a promising beginning, but I found I couldn’t really get into this one. The arrangements on City Sand are well written and well executed, but the lyrics while catchy, are at times bland and repetitive. Overall the demo has great piano work and the blend of the instruments with William’s voice, brings this album together. Corey William may not necessarily be breaking new musical ground with this album, but song by song he’s perfecting a sound that leaves a lasting impression.
