Fancy Me Yet? More Than Ever! by Nimrod God
Hello There Awesome Nimrods! NG here with another great new band to add to your MP3 player! About a month ago a fellow Nimrod used our Contact Us page to suggest a fantastic upcoming new band from our neighboring town of Miami, Florida. Little did I know that my mind would soon be blown away by the crisp new sounds of Fancy Me Yet... Let me tell you, once you hear these tracks you are sure to Fancy them again and again. While I have yet to experience them live, I had the chance to communicate back and forward with front-woman Natasha Jeanne and ask her a few questions about the band. Natasha, along with bandmates Alex and Chris are Fancy Me Yet, and together they are an indie pop-rock trio that combine an elegant blend of up-beat electronic synths, rocking guitar pieces, kicking drum beats and strong female vocals that will leave you begging for more! As Natasha herself puts it "our music usually revolves around the theme of motion because of the constant energy that is emitted from our sound. The result is obviously a bi-product of the Rocking Trio's friendship. "Alex and I started the band in May 2009. We started off jamming together for fun when we both realized there was chemistry and potential in the music. A few months after writing 'Amusing Me' Chris approached us on MySpace. We really hit it off writing music as a trio which is rare. Since then, it has become increasingly clear that Fancy Me yet is rapidly growing in momentum! "We have been generating a following in the South Florida Music Scene by playing key shows. Endorsements from Gibson, Shine, and BMI have helped us gain attention from the music industry. While Fancy Me Yet draws inspiration from better known bands such as Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, Blondie and U2, their professionalism is not exactly beginners luck. Natasha Jeanne, who was formerly known as "JD Natasha" previously held a record deal with EMI records and was nominated for three Latin Grammys before starting over with Fancy Me Yet. "It's something Where I wasn't happy with the direction the label wanted me to go, so I stayed true to what I believe and decided to follow my heart. Now I am making music I love with Fancy Me Yet. Chris earned his musical "merit badge" in a band called The Minor, from West Palm Beach, Florida. He also produces and records tracks for bands from within his home studio. Alex on the other hand, having always been interested in music, had been studying in college up until joining up with the band full time. The future looks very bright for Fancy Me Yet, and they are just getting started! "Our aspirations for the near future are to find a reputable producer in the music industry and ultimately sign to a major record label. The Independents: Fancy Me Yet by Melody
Have you ever listened to a group for the first time and was shocked by how much you liked it? Although Fancy Me Yet, a Miami indie rock band, has cute guys and a former Latin Grammy-nominated singer going for them, I was skeptical. Three piece bands rarely have variety, crossover appeal or (in the case of MySpace) enough songs for an accurate feel of their real sound. Fancy Me Yet has all of that and SO much more. There's a subtle power in the blending of the guitars, drums and piano. In songs like 'Then There's You' the sleepy smoothness in the vocals catches you off guard. It sounds like lead girl Natasha (of JD Natasha fame - listen to the Hey Ya cover while you're there, it's genius) is singing through a filter and it sounds oddly romantic. Their other songs, like the uptempo pop rock toe-tapper 'Skip The Previews' is pretty right off the bat and loud when it counts. 'Amusing Me' is a catchy example of how good a song sounds when the vocalists know how to harmonize; while 'Edge of a Turn' and 'Breaking News' have these gentle touches of techno in the electric keyboard and the snare drum. And did I mention that the girl doesn't sing alllllll the songs? Variety! That's such a plus in my book. The band is in the studio as I type apparently, so even more new songs should be on the way. Please become a fan. Especially if you loved JD Natasha in another life - which is how I stumbled across them. It's not the same sound by any means (which is good!), but the real rock and the originality is just as present in Fancy Me Yet. Makes me wish there was an album ready. Or that I lived in Miami.

Fancy Me Yet Gets Wily at White Room Tomorrow Night by S. Pajot
The pitfalls of teen stardom are legend -- sex, drugs, burnout, overexposure, the dreaded 20th birthday, or even a simple case of the incurable craziesalaWackoJacko. Way back in '79, Leif Garrett hit the 'ludes, crashed his car, and almost killed his friend while, more recently, we've seen Britney tumble pantyless down the wrong path too many times to bother counting. Really, it's almost inevitable: The pop machine will eat its virgins for breakfast. Occasionally though, there emerges a teen idol who proves wily enough to escape the lethal shark jaws of stardom. Take Kendall-native Natasha Jeannette Duenas, a.k.a. former latin pop princess JD Natasha. After a hit album Imperfecta and three Latin Grammy noms, she suddenly decamped from EMI International, dropped the JD from her stage name, and stopped singing in Spanish before launching an anglophone rock band of her very own, Fancy Me Yet. Tomorrow night, sneak a peek at the new Natasha when she and her bandmates -- guitarist Alex and drummer Chris -- slip into White Room for a set of angular indie-pop tunes off their debut disc Skip the Previews. To keep it brief, FMY look like arty new wavers on prom night and they sorta sound like it, too. The catch: probably non-virgins. And so, the pop machine weeps.

MySpace Gold: Fancy Me Yet by Aldo Singer
If the new track from Fancy Me Yet, “Middle Man,” is any indication from what’s to come, than they should be rocking stages across the country and the world in no time. The group consists, of lead singer, Natasha, drummer, Chris, and guitarist, Alex. They boast an intoxicating pop-rock sound that is hard to ignore. They’re currently working on their first album, searching for the right producer. And they truly are a band, one solid unit. “We all contribute equally to the writing process. The three of us have great chemistry, which really helps make our songwriting unique,” the band said. Though the biggest crowd they’ve played for has only been in front of 400 people, they could easily have their music resonating off the walls of Madison Square Garden or the Staples Center. It’ll happen because they’ve got the drive and the ambition to succeed, you can hear it in their voice and their passion for performing. Natasha called performing live shows “basically, the best feeling in the world. It’s hard to describe. It’s like having five Red Bulls and you can’t wait until it happens again.” They’re not letting their love for music blind themselves either. We’ve all heard the stories about artists being upset at their labels and being taken advantage of, Fancy Me Yet possesses a strong mental talent too. They know who they want to work with. Chris said “I think working with someone like Stuart Price (he’s worked with the likes of Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Missy Elliott) would be perfect for our sound. Also Tom Lord-Alge (he’s worked with the Rolling Stones), anything mixed by him is golden.” They don’t have many outlets right now, MySpace and the Florida area being primarily it, but brace yourself. They’re planning on a nationwide tour by the end of the year and have numerous demos set to go and bump in your stereos.

Submission Red and Fancy Me Yet Win X & Y Fest Top Honors by Brett Gillin
X & Y Fest took place last weekend at The Talent Farm with 20 bands competing to see who would be chosen to represent a generation of music fans in Broward county.Oh, and there was a $500 prize, but the honor of winning has got to trump any monetary reward right? Fancy Me Yet, a Miami-based trio, took home the gold for Generation Y. Probably the most polished band competing at the festival, FMY seems destined for big things. Lead singer Natasha Jeannette Duenas, formerly known as Latin-pop superstar JD Natasha, has been nominated for three Latin Grammys before eschewing her big time label for her indie rock outfit. Now, with over a quarter million hits on their MySpace page and a pretty big official fansite, Fancy Me Yet is taking off, with winning the X & Y Fest being the first step toward stardom. After snatching a big-time record deal and racking up three Latin Grammy nominations as a Spanish-singing alt-rock soloist, 22-year-old Natasha Dueñas (formerly JD Natasha) craved the collaborative effort of a band.
