About the Artist
Your interpretation of my music deeply moved me because it transcends what is written on the score. Passiveness before the music is not something your work can be characterized with"
-Alfonso Montes, Venezuelan Composer
Hector Murrieta is a musician with an interest in almost all types of music, but focused on "classical" guitar music. He released his first CD, "De Oriente a Occidente: Musica del Siglo XX", the result of many different influences converging at one point at the right time. With sources as varied as the towering Brazilian musician Heitor Villa-Lobos to the intimate revelations of Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu, these works for classical guitar represent a glimpse into the century in which music became the highest form of abstraction and a return to art's roots.
