Mackenzie Olson has been singing since before most are able to talk. She was born on February 18, 1992, making this young teenager, only 18; though her tone, filled with vibrato and soul, will have you believe otherwise. Despite the fact that she has just recently begun recording for the first time, late summer of 2008, and has had zero voice training, she has already been compared to big names such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Keri Hilson, Jazmine Sullivan, Ashanti, and more. She was born and raised in Bloomington/Normal, IL, where she met Soulful Minds, aka Mario Toney, who saw her potential and immediately started working with her and producing her material. They instantly had an unbelievable chemistry and also shared the same influences, such as; Maxwell, D’Angelo, Earth Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, Aretha Franklin, and many more. Though Mackenzie’s time is much later than these Kings and Queens of soul, she was naturally drawn to their sound, and it shows through her voice; as Soulful Minds would say, “She has an old soul”. She not only is a gifted R&B/Soul songstress; she is a blonde haired, blue eyed beauty, who dances and writes all of her lyrics (with multiple journals to confirm), is athletic as well, with a funny and lively personality to match, along with all the potential in the world. Currently, she is working on her Demo in hopes of pursuing her dream. After her material is finalized, she will be performing and trying to build her name with Soulful Minds. She is anxious to see where her music takes her. More music is coming very soon!
