Tom DeVoursney is a singing/songwriter/guitarist who grew up on the beaches of Florida, and the mountains of North Carolina. At an early age, he was influenced by his Grandfather’s bluegrass fiddle playing. A student of the music revolution of the 60's and 70's, Tom developed an appreciation of blues, jazz, and even classical music. At 17, he recorded his first original Rock album with his band “The May Street Tops”
After a spiritual awakening Tom left that band and began writing and performing his own music. He was 18 when he performed on the 700 Club and the P.T.L. Club T.V. shows. He formed a new group named "Maskil" and recorded an album with them. Later Tom moved to Nashville recording his first nationally released album with Don Potter, guitarist and co-producer of the "Judds". In 1996 Tom signed with Curb Records and recorded two albums on the Curb label. He was also a writer on country releases; "Swingin on my Baby's Chain" (Radio and CMT video), and "She kicked my Dog".
In 2000 , he moved to the mountains of North Carolina to work on his next release “Soujourner’s Travelogue”,which he recorded in Destin, Florida. "Sojourner's Travelogue" features Tom’s acoustic guitar playing along with some of Destin's finest musicians. Later that year Tom moved to Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. and has continued to perform locally.
Now, releasing his new album"Where the Blue Sky meets the Sea" Tom brings a fresh, yet experienced style to Trop- rock music and the rebirth of beach life. A life that feeds the soul and spirit. Songs that not only share the hard knocks of experience, but also celebrate the goodness of life
