The Vibrant Sound

Technical Requirements:

We don’t even have to have a stage to play on but the smallest size would have to fit 5 guys which needs to be pretty decent in size.  Let’s say tentatively about 10’ x 15’. If it’s larger it would be more comfortable but again, we have played plenty of places with no stages or with really small stages and we make it work. We need 3 vocal mics but can get by with 2 if needed. We prefer the shure sm58 vocal mics but could do with the shure sm57 or any other mics. We’ve played with a bunch of different kinds. We do like to mic the drums and the amps if possible when the PA and mixer can support it but we play a ton of shows where nothing else but the vocals have mics. If the PA can handle it we like to have a bass/kickdrum mic and one on the snare as well as 2 overhead small condenser mics for the symbols. We like to have 2 electric guitar amps and a bass guitar amp with mics on them as well as an sm57 on the trumpet. Again we can play without these for sure and sound great but they are a luxury if there is a nice sound system. We can play with boom or straight mic stands but we prefer the boom mic stands. We don’t need any instrument stands but a guitar stand or 2 is always a bonus. We do love to have a PA system and mixer already there and set up. We do have one of our own and can bring it on occasion but it is just a bummer to travel with. The smallest amount of inputs we need in a PA system is 2 vocal mics. We prefer to have 3 vocal mics and then to have all 3 amps and the drums with mics which adds another 5-7 channels. Sometimes we will play with a keys player as well if the event likes it and that would require one DI input from the keyboard as well. We don’t have to have any outboard gear but it is nice if the mixer can add some reverb on the vocals. We have played tons of shows without monitors but again they are a great luxury and we do like to have at least 2 stage monitors and preferable 4 or 5 when possible. They are not a must at all though.  We don’t need lighting but the crowd does enjoy it so if it is possible again it is nice but a lot of the shows we play don’t have a legit lighting set up. We do prefer a sound technician but we are also capable of setting up our own sound if we have time for a good sound check. The sound technician does make for a better live sound when we are playing though so it is usually a wise idea to have one.  We don’t need any stage hands or dressing rooms. We would love transportation to and from the airport or hotel if at all possible but it is not a requirement, just a benefit. The only other thing is that it is nice to have a few waters on stage for the vocalists when the throat gets dry. Thanks
