False Positive is a punk rock band straight out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The band is compiled of Chris “Spoo” Seaman (guitar/vocals), Chris Gammill (guitar/vocals) and Jarred Wion (drums). The trio has been playing together for over three years and has recently added a new member, Travis Palen on bass, to the lineup. Their name alone will grab your attention, even though they swear it’s based off of a computer networking term. One listen to their newly released EP “Takin’ It EP” shows their influences such as NOFX, Green Day, The Wonder Years, Blink-182 and Sublime. Their music definitely brings a harder edge to pop punk with hard hitting distortion, driving beats, and vocal harmonies. Even though the band only started playing shows in February 2010, they’ve already acquired lots of experience under their belt; playing with such bands as New Found Glory, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Authority Zero, Banner Pilot, Fireworks, and Teenage Bottlerocket to name a few. Not only are these guys paving the way for a solid local following with constant Oklahoma City shows, but they’re also getting radio play on Tulsa’s very own Riot Radio Broadcasting via RSU Radio 91.3 FM. With songs based on personal experience, perceptions on every-day life, and basically getting drunk and fucked up, this band is guaranteed to have a few songs every listener can relate to. Their comical stage presence and carless attitude has made a “positive” impact on the local music scene and venues in the area for over a year. This band is definitely one to watch.
