A definite Motown feel, though I also could pick out shades of (believe it or not) Natalie Cole (similar vocal timbre but more vocal precision needed) and (strangely) Black-Eyed Peas, more or less for the over-the-top subject matter teamed with occasionally over-the-top vocals. Clever lyrical idea, sells the song well, nice string parts and strong takes by the backing band. I think in a couple of spots the lead vocal could have used some re-punches in the studio, but this one brought a smile to my face for several reasons, on several levels.
