This song is about the fact that for years I hid behind this outgoing personality, but never let anyone see the other side of me, which was really hurting. The writing of 1985 was critical in tending to that other side I'd neglected-now I'm happy and free as a bird!

I love your voice but this time I listened to the song. The melody line and the harmonies are gorgeous. This is a seriously great song. I'm not huge on lyrics but you can't help but love this autobiography.
