About Amy LaCour
Los Angeles, CA
Amy LaCour is an independent singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. Her piano-driven sound fuses soul, folk, and jazz traditions, influenced by classic artists like Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Roberta Flack, and Joni Mitchell.
In 2007, Amy self-released her debut EP, Bitter Suite, to glowing reviews. Paul Zollo of American Songwriter gave the recording four-stars and wrote: “LaCour’s songs are mostly mid-tempo ballads of deep soul and jazzy melodic sweetness wed to poetic lyrics of sorrow and triumph, such as the great opener “Bittersweet, “ and especially “One Man’s Stone,” which resounds like a timeless spiritual. Great soul standard.”
Similarly, Urban Network voted the single “One Man’s Stone” one of the top songs of 2008 and described Amy as “ a thinking woman's cross between Bill Withers and Norah Jones. Rooted."
Amy is currently putting the finishing touches on a follow-up recording to be released in the summer of 2010.
