About Big Dave and The Dirty Liars
Monterey Park, CA
If John Lee Hooker and Tom Waits broke the Blues Brothers out of jail, you’d get Big Dave & The Dirty Liars, a harmonica driven mix of lo-fi blues and dive-bar rock that makes girls dance.
Formed in early 2008, the boys have gone from playing LA’s local watering holes to some of the biggest venues on and off the Sunset Strip. They packed the Viper Room on Grammy night 2008, played B.B. King’s and The Knitting Factory, and were the last band ever to take The Derby’s main stage, ending their January ’09 residency. Thursdays in March ’09 they moved to the big house with a residency at the House Of Blues in Hollywood, CA.
In March 2009, the band releases “WHAT’S IN THE CASE?” a four track E.P. Big Dave is frank about addictive relationships in “Bad At Breakin’ Up,” an outlaw country rocker. “That Dapper Bastard” tells the tale of a vampire hipster with a dark, rumba beat. The bitter anthem, “Flyin’ Off The Handle,” and the outright lies of “Boom Boom Explode” show off the band’s electric blues roots with dirty harp, dirty words, and the tight groove of The Dirty Liars.
