About Gary Smejkal

Hudson, NH

Recently commissioned to do the theme song and soundtrack for the new cable TV show A LOCAL ANESTHETIC, Gary Smejkal is back into the studio to record his second CD titled PLAYING IN THE WHITE SPACE.

He brings into the studio a new roster of musicians including Wayne Morgan, Steve Esposito, Ray Chiffy, and Christa Dhimo.

LIKE A MOTH TO THE FLAME, the 2008 debut from Gary Smejkal, features three new original compositions written for the bass. In further exploring the bass as a lead instrument, Smejkal contrasts driving hard rock rhythms with unexpected interludes and fusionist stylings.

Bootsy Collins told Smejkal “Consider this an A for approval and a C for the chops, which you do have.”

LIKE A MOTH TO THE FLAME was called “Fluid, expansive and filled with flurries of bass notes” in Metronome Magazine and has received air play on WSCA 106.1 FM and WMBR 88.1 FM
