Happy Easter, best wishes to you and hope for all your dreams come true.
Thank you for being a traveler here on OurStage and on the Gary Revel Friendship Train. May your ride be pleasant and enjoyable
This train stopped in at Jim Black and Friends Underground Cafe, 3/19/, 3/26/, 4/2/ and 4/9/09 (last night). Jim and Robin brought out, Hollywood Star, Martian Boogie and They Slew The Dreamer (MLK Assassination Song/Album helping fund the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial in Washington D.C.).
In music, there are really only twelve tones and a group of beats. In our imagination, however, the sky is the limit
Enjoy your flight. . . . . . .
-Kenny Brook
In addition to being an extraordinarily versatile guitarist, Kenny Brooks is also a splendid composer/arranger who currently resides in the Inland Empire of Southern California. For over twenty years, he has performed with numerous R&B, Jazz and Latin ensembles
Originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana, Kenny started his music career as a Rock/R&B guitarist. After being exposed to Classical and Big Band arrangements during a stint with the U.S. Air Force Band, he discovered his voice as a composer. He uses musical elements from all genres like a painter using a full spectrum of colors on one palate. This ethereal, "sound portrait" approach towards "Smooth Jazz" guitar compositions sets him apart from his contemporaries
You can hear a number of influences in Kenny's music; Earl Klugh, Barry White, Pat Metheny, George Benson. Fans have found Kenny's approach to the jazz guitar instrumental is refreshingly creative
