Hi, huffa. Thanks a lot for the kind words about my music. I totally support you in your stand against Ourstage. Of course, I hope you make your way back some day, but I definitely understand your frustration. The shred competition was just nuts.

Thanks for digging my song "Friend" on take care, Travis

Andy, thanks for all of your support on here, I hope you reconsider. Also thanks for favoriting my songs and for believing in my song Shuffle Off To Buffalo. It was very kind of you to say it was the best song in the Shred or Alive Competition, however I really liked a lot of the songs there, especially Britt Warren's. God Bless you Andy and I hope nothing but the best for you in your future. Rob.

Hi all, thanks for your words I wrote this as a reply to Karl at Ourstage. I wish all artists on here the best in their music careers. By the way my profile picture is of the man who helped raise me as a child and was the biggest influence in my life, my uncle Todd Huff
Karl, I understand there are lots of songs on the site, but how does the content team miss over 800 rap songs with no solos in a category that had just over 1000 entries. Your content team made it unjudgable by not pulling those songs, a lot of great musicians will never be heard and more importantly they were turned off and saw this competition as mickey mouse. I did flag some songs but seriously do you expect me to fill out the flagging form 800 times.
Take a look at my page, I've won lots of judging awards including best judge for the whole site for 1 month. For your site to work you need judges to be involved so that the cream rises to the top. That's not going to happen without some sort of internal reorganization that addresses the channel content. Your Shred contest is already a casuality, how many more will be like that till this problem is addressed. Another big problem is the reorganization of Southern Rock which I judged a lot. It now goes to the country finals, why not the rock finals? That channel has floundered since that decision. Some of the best artists on this site are in that channel, and to have it move to country is a mistake. Marshall Tucker, ZZ Top, 38 Special, Black Oak Arkansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd were not country bands.
I'm sorry if it seems that I'm unloading on you, that's not my intention. I loved your site, and recommended it dozens of times to my friends. I am beyond frustrated, mainly because a competition that I loved (Shred Guitar) was involved. I can personally only name 2 songs that fit that description out of the 600 or so different songs I judged, Britt Warren's song Hot Pursuit and Rob Stokes song Shuffle Off To Buffalo. Since joining this site I've become friends with many of the artists including the two I just mentioned, however I wanted to hear if there were any other excellent guitarists on this site I hadn't yet discovered. This was impossible with all of those rap songs. I sincerely hope the best for Britt's song as it looks as though it will make the top 40. Rob's as I just checked is probably too far out, 69th as I write this. His song is the best shred song I heard, listen to it and if you don't agree you can tell me. So his song is a casuality of this. How many other excellent songs will never get judged or had no chance
In the end I don't expect you to do anything Karl, I just feel better getting this off my chest. I think though if you asked the artists in that category for a solution it would be to pull all the rap songs out leaving only the ones in that followed your guidelines. That's too late as judging finishes tomorrow. Maybe you could use this as an example of how not to run a contest though for the future. Anyways I thank you for listening Karl

Thanks for the kind words man! Those are pretty live tracks from a radio show we were on. Compared to the album we're about to finish, there pretty low-fi. We'll keep you posted. Thanks again!

Dont give up hope... The cream always rises to the top & the unqualified songs in Shred or Alive will simply not make it. I was frustrated, too, but it all works out in the en
Thank you for being awesome anyway!

Thanks for the compliment on my song, appreciate it. Completely understand your frustration with the competition lacking guitar leads / solos / shred. Because of the over abundance of rap and non-guitar music I have not asked any of my fans to vote in the Shred or Alive competition....too embarrassed to have them see all the non-qualifying songs mixed in....makes contest and site lose are correct about that. All the best to you!

That sucks man, I see your judging credentials and you are much needed on here. I wrote and asked them to just have 1 or 2 unbias but (qualified) judges like yourself run the competitions. Without you these sites will fill up with even more crap unfortunately...but I totally understand the frustration...To work and hone your craft with the love and determination it takes to reach a level that could be interpreted as shred and to be beaten out by people who honestly dont even belong in it,is like punching yourself in the face and drop kicking yourself in the balls...Please again feel free to come to my site and listen and I promise I will give you heart, soul and some SHRED! All with the hard work and dedication and love it takes to be a shredder not nowhere noodling. Peace my friend

Your not the only one Gary, this is pathetic. I'm saying my goodbyes to all the artists I admired on this site. As you can see from my judging history I was a good one, even won best judge on the whole site one month. It's a shame, they couldn't pull the unqualified songs off and let some of the artists buried have a chance, but from what I heard it might have been only 5 or 10 shred songs in the whole competition. If I was a guitarist that was that good I'd want to be heard, however few of them ever will. I'm finding this more and more with songs that don't have anything to do with a category competing, they get flagged but never get pulled. How would the rap artists like it if people put up 2000 nothing songs in there category that weren't rap and they never got heard!!
