John Norwood began writing songs while in college at the University of Tennessee. He played some of these songs in Nashville, Austin and Atlanta. He began looking at this seriously when he moved to Los Angeles to earn his M.F.A. in screenwriting at the University of Southern California.
John takes his sometime daily experiences and observations with a sense of humor and puts them into story lines for his songs. One in particular was a meeting with a ‘crazy chick’ who he and a friend of his met at a bar. After hearing some of her ramblings about how she named her dog after her favorite French cyclist of the mid-90’s, John’s thought was that nobody wants him but this crazy chick. He wasn’t interested but he didn’t want to hurt her feelings, so he wrote it down on his cell phone and the song grew from there.
The new single, “Nobody Loves Me (But This Crazy Chick)”, is off his new CD, “Music With a Rat Tail”. The theme is that beggars can’t be choosers. This song is light hearted and fun to listen to. The beginning of this song surely grabs your attention – and now you are hooked…
John’s music ranges from rowdy rock instrumentation to simple acoustic arrangements both with the injection of very creative sounds and textures.
He is planning to do a lot more recording and performing in the year 2010. We look forward to what he will bring to the masses.
