Kai Brant

From blues to rock to jazz… Kai has gone through the stages performing extensively both live and in the studio. In her early years, she was reminiscent of Sheryl Crow and PJ Harvey. But things have changed since her discovery of the Apple… the ‘instrument’ that replaced her former guitar-based rock sound.

In 2006 Kai set down her guitar and joined the jazz psychedelic group Holiday. Although never performing live, the experience peaked her interest in jazz and the use of electronic sound loops. After purchasing an Apple computer and a recording program of her own, she went on to form The Hat Trix Project in Long Beach, California, a collective integrating poetry, live music, dance and technology into one unique platform. It was in this collective that Kai completed her first release as a producer.

Throughout these experiences Kai continued to write her own music and explore technology, and in 2009 decided that the time had come to finish her solo project. She left Southern California for the seclusion of the Nevada desert where she completed her LP in Summer of 2010. The result is a collection of experimental music ranging from high-energy electronic tracks to slow piano ballads, with her trademark voice tying it all together.
