About L-SKI

Astoria, NY

Many bands in New York City’s rock scene have been together longer than L-SKI, yet few can match the vivacity and originality this promising young quartet brings to the stage one live show after the next. L-SKI (pronounced el-skee) has been compared to early incarnations of Led Zeppelin, Steely Dan, and Yes, fused with 90's influences such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Stone Temple Pilots. But there’s an undeniable freshness in the band’s three-part vocal harmonies, snaking guitar licks and funky percussion grooves that leaves fans and critics struggling to place them in the context of any band from recent years.

Formed in 2007, L-SKI is the brainchild of Rhode Island natives, and fellow front-men, Jake Wolfgang and Ben DeFusco. The songwriting duo shares vocal duties, while DeFusco mans the guitar and Wolfgang rocks keys and percussion. Bassist and fellow Rhode Islander, Chad Flaherty establishes firm ground with his rock-solid pocket and tone, while drummer and longtime friend, Steve Purcell came to NYC via Ohio to round out the L-SKI line-up.

When DeFusco is not playing with L-SKI, he is on tour as the lead guitarist for international superstar, Wyclef Jean. DeFusco has been touring with Jean for over two years and has played with the likes of Bono, Santana, Akon, and Mary J. Blige. Ben’s studio work also includes playing guitar on Justin Bieber’s number one selling album “My World 2.0”, as well as "Someone to Love Me", a track off P. Diddy's new album, "Last Train to Paris".

Since their official inception in New York City, the band has seen continued success. In March 2011, L-SKI defeated 51 other bands to earn the title of No Contracts Needed '11 Rompetition champions in Boston (MA), and their first full-length album is scheduled for release in the summer of 2011. They have appeared at numerous NYC venues including the Knitting Factory, Crash Mansion, and the Canal Room, and they are regulars at the legendary Bitter End, rocking a sold out show there on New Year’s Eve 2009. L-SKI concerts in their home state of Rhode Island garner sell-out crowds as well. They have been known to play deep into the night at such venues as The Ocean Mist, Lupos, and The Wheel House.
