About Nathan Bostick

Albuquerque, NM

Artist Bio: Nathan Bostick

Nate B. is an Artist that is hard to be categorized by a single genre of music, more varied than even his seemingly endless list of musical influences are his original pieces which he has been nurturing since the late 90s.

Always progressively minded, Nate’s Music transposes many forms including Break Beat, Electro, Atmospheric, House, Down Tempo, Trip Hop, IDM, Glitch and even Industrial, Rock, Jungle, Hip-hop and Drum'n'Bass.

“I have always believed that everything is music, so I have always tried to take everything in, Every musical background can play a part, its just a matter of taking pieces from all of it -everything you hear everyday is subject to manipulation twist it all to fit your own perception, that’s what makes an Artist” – Nate B.

Nathan also states "its all music and I believe that most artists tend to forget this and wind up getting stuck in a certain sound or style, they become comfortable and stop pushing forward which is precisely why I had to begin doing something more than just DJ’ing” -Nate B.

He started mixing records in 1998 after finding a love for progressive house and deep trance. In 1999 he was befriended by Christopher Starr, a professional DJ and founder of U-Productions in Los Angeles, California, who saw more than just a 'bedroom spinner' and decided to take Nate under his label.

From the underground clubs and jam sessions in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the parties and massives in Los Angeles, California word of mouth spread. Eventually, Nathan was found by other like-minded artist’s and listener’s where he was then befriended by Desert FM which provided a Bi-monthly residency after retiring from his tours on the west coast.

“Although some won’t agree, mixing records is certainly a true Art form, it’s the real-time arrangement of music, It takes the understanding timing and measurements, an understanding of both chord and overall musical theory and it takes a lot more than simply “Beat-Matching”.

"The DJ is not the music but the muse, a medium which the soul of the music uses to communicate through – I was tired of simply interpreting others music and found I was limited to the views of the artist – so why not become the artist and make inspiring sounds for others to interpret – it’s a natural plateau that every DJ should learn to reach at some point.” – Nate B.

Nathan Bostick’s Music Can be heard around the internet through live streamed DJ sets and many unreleased pieces can be heard on Various underground (and not so underground) music sites today, just "google" his name and you will certaintly find something.

He is currently finishing up his Debute Album known as 'Project N/A
set for a Winter 2009/2010 release, and at the same time preparing a New Live Performance.

"After coming home this time I felt it's been too long in the waiting to get this album done, so my plan is to finish that up and then work on the stage antiks incase we happen to tour the album after it's release."

Where he will take us next is not yet known, Nathan quite literally lives IN the moment and doesn't like to conform for anyone or thing; He seems to begin a new metamorphosis with each new piece of material, performance or in-depth talk.

It is quite apparent that he is listening, learning, and above all else, taking it in to become one step closer to the greatness he longs to be for his peers.

He has hinted recently of beginning work with new Grass Roots Entities which could have massive potential by backing his and other like-minded artist; Those known so far are Centerforce Recordings LLC and an Indie Label known as E.A.R. or "Espionage Audio Recordings".

Both of which are rumored to be grounded by their own strict working environments and are privy to only few.

Here's to hoping that those Few become Many and that Other Like-Minded Artists and their Listener’s will share this new frontier of Musical and Cultural blending with Nathan in the Very near Future.
