About nicholasrflawless

Durham, NC

Nicholas R. FLAWLESS (artist/songwriter/producer) redefines hip-hop by adding a touch of new flavor intertwined with timeless soulfulness and a taste of abstract expressionism. Deriving his name from the literal definition of the word—flawless, he is truly “without imperfection, defect or shortcoming that can cause failure”. Like his name implies Nicholas R. FLAWLESS strives for nothing short of perfection with his innovative beats and lyrical content. Known for his slick emcee skills and undeniable charm, FLAWLESS breathes a breath of fresh air back into the hip-hop game. While some might consider him a conscious rapper, FLAWLESS simply chooses to focus more on the music and less on the vulgarities that saturate commercial hip-hop. He dons a soulful sense of style and swagger often compared to Common with a lyrical flow reminiscent of Black Thought from The Roots. A lover of all music not just hip-hop, Nicholas R. FLAWLESS has immersed himself in the craft. He taught himself to play guitar and experiments with the keys. He also writes and produces his own music by integrating various instruments. His unique sounds and blends have resulted in production for an array of artists. His musical influences include legendary artists such as Marvin Gaye, Jimmy Hendrix, Prince, and Kenny Loggins (before “Foot Loose”). A product of suburban Durham, North Carolina, Nicholas R. FLAWLESS grew up with hip-hop. In his late teens, he started out as an emcee rhyming at local college radio stations on the campuses of Duke University and North Carolina Central. Expanding his professional network, FLAWLESS went on to meet and work with renowned producers such as Ski, producer of Jay-Z’s Dead Presidents and Mike City, producer of Carl Thomas’ “I Wish I Never Met Her”. He later went on tour around the country with the hip-hop group Sporty Thievez, as part of the Roc-A-Blok label. When he wasn’t touring, FLAWLESS spent countless hours in the lab collaborating with Camp-Lo. After a stint in the Big Apple, Nicholas R. FLAWLESS returned to his North Carolina roots to make some of the most meaningful music of his career. Unlocking the vault of classics...
