A person once asked me,"How would you describe Tate?" I pondered for a minute, as if I were at a loss for words. Little did he know that I was merely trying to limit my praise for the brother from a musical stand point. Tate's the kind of artist that other artist love. His love for his craft and his acknowledgement of past greats are only a couple of his attributes. Knowing that he considers himself a songwriter more than a vocalist, I can't help but say how much I love hearing his voice. It has a smoothness and subtlety that is a rare find. His willingness to "go there" when he writes is also a refreshing change from many of the "bubble gum" laced songs of today. Hailing from the South, Tate has been greatly influenced by a array of different types of music. Reard as a church singer, the combination of gospel and soul singing appears to be a natural mesh for this artist.
