About The New Alumni
In May 2009, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels from the legendary rap group “RUN DMC” joined forces with IME Music Group and created a Rap contest challenging all young rappers across the country to be Creative, Inspirational, Motivational and Educational. No profanity, glorifying violence, or disrespecting woman to any degree. With that being noted in the contest rules, the contestants still had to display a hot record.
By January, 2010 (10,000) plus contestant from around the world entered their songs, and made the decision hard for DMC to pick the best rappers out of all of these artists.After spending almost 3 months trying to make the right decision, DMC finally hand picked his best 9 rappers out of 10,000 and created this super rap group called, Many Voices, Many Minds, One Goal, Hip Hop Diplomacy. That’s what comes to mind when you meet and hear this powerful diverse rap group.
“THE NEW ALUMNI” consist of 8 male MC’s and 1 female MC from across the U.S. “CEEZ”- St. Louis, “NESSACARY” Cleveland, “TROYMAN”- Oakland, “LS”-N.Y., “PREZ”- N.Y., “DEZYNE”- Africa, “CHAD MARKUS”-Delaware, “BLAKE”- Philadelphia, and “L.U.C.K.I. ”-L.A. It must be fate the way these artists came together for the first time ever meeting each other and jelled like magic. After spending 24hrs, bonding together in Phoenix, Arizona, the next 7 days consisted of creating and recording at the famous Salt Mine Studios in Mesa, one of the most powerful diverse Hip Hop CD made in the last 10 years. “Class of 2011” is the title name of the group’s first album. With this quote from DMC in mind, “Can you make a record that can change someone’s life?” “THE NEW ALUMNI” came together and made 19 songs that can do just that.
There are a lot of rappers and MC’s out there, but there is only one “THE NEW ALUMNI”.
