About The Prefect

Ottawa, Canada

“The Prefect rock so hard they should be called 'The Perfect' "
Gavin Brown (Producer of Billy Talent, Three Days Grace, Metric, Tea Party)

In just two years on the Ottawa music scene, The Prefect has already proven its worth. Having won $45 000 in the Live 88.5 Big Money Shot, performed a successful Canadian Music Week Showcase, and recorded two demos with Juno Award winning producer Gavin Brown, the group that The Ottawa Citizen dubbed “The Ferocious Foursome” has clearly been living up to its reputation.

With inspiration stemming from a wide variety of musical backgrounds, The Prefect strives to create a unique sound that grabs the listener and doesn’t let go. Derrick Ross, Vice-President of Contemporary Music at S.L. Feldman & Associates, described The Prefect as “A perfect cross between Billy Talent and Simple Plan”.This contrast of alternative rock with pop influenced vocal hooks has allowed them to play with top acts of old and new, all the while being warmly accepted by crowds of all ages and musical preferences. The Prefect has supported classic acts such as Kim Mitchell, and April Wine, as well as newer acts including Faber Drive, Mariana’s Trench, Gob and State of Shock to name but a few.

The Chemistry between vocalist Grant Gooley, guitarist Fraser Holmes, bassist Alex Holmes, and drummer Mike Yantha as performers is undeniable. DMD Entertainment President Adrian Strong Described The Prefect as “One of the most exciting projects I’ve heard in years, just solely based on their music”. Whether it is their fresh musical repertoire or energetic stage performances,

The Prefect represents a well-rounded package that promises to make waves for years to come.
